![]() ![]() ![]() Astra Modelo 400 (1921) A brief history of the Astra Modelo 400 (1921) In 1912 the Spanish Armed Forces selected the Gampo-Giro Model 1913 as their standard issue sidearm. This might lead one to believe that there were only 105, 275 Model 400's produced. The Model 400, in both commercial and official incarnations, was numbered in a separate serial number range from other Esperanza y Unceta products, starting at number 1 and continuing through number 105,275. There is no written proof of this theory. There is a speculation, that all Astra 300 were delivered to the Luftwaffe. Only the 9 mm variation has an German military acceptance stamp. Variaton 9 mm short - Variation 7.65 mm: The Astra 300 was procured in the calibers 7,65 mm and 9 mm short by the Wehrmacht in France. ![]() Included is a very detailed listing of serial number ranges and production dates for most of the models, along with historical notes that explain the context of the pistols. Other potential authors can consider this book (and the Astra book as well) to be a good example of what they should strive for when they plan their projects. ![]()
